James can’t decide if the “Yours” (“She signed it YOURS, Padfoot!”) outweighs the small detail that apparently Remus makes the cut and he doesn’t.
Lily will later claim that she read once people with dragon pox can breathe fire. James not making the cut was simply her own way of protecting his hair from her potential fire-breathing prowess. Secretly it’s also because she doesn’t want him to see how badly the greenish tinge of her skin clashes with her red hair.
