Bucky’s eyes made Steve stop

#I bet steve really wanted to hope #that he could just knock bucky down or manage to throw him aside long enough to do what he had to with the chip but then bucky gets angry and pulls the knife #and that’s when steve has to really face that this fight is going to have to get ruthless #because bucky’s too hard to keep down #and bucky keeps forcing the fight to become more and more brutal #and i think that’s part of why steve was ready to die at the end because after everything #after surviving when he really didn’t want to #after losing bucky #watching peggy grow old #watching the world become what it is #watching hydra prevail for so long #after everything steve gave #after all that he’s looking in the face of the person he loves most #and he’s seeing what was done to him #what this person he loved was twisted into #how he suffered far worse than dying #and has been completely defiled made into this weapon #and on top of that #steve was forced to hurt him #and in those seconds where he was hurting him #this ugly world had forced him down to its level #and i think for a bit there #steve was just done #he’d just had enough #that was the last straw (via paraxdisepink)
